Squash Pumpkin Smoothie

by Laura

I really wanted to try one of your squash pumpkin smoothies. But alas... all I had to use was an acorn squash. I cooked it up to satisfy my curiosity of these smoothies flavored with pumpkin and spices. My sons and I enjoyed every sip of this smoothie. I was pretty amazed!

These smoothies are a great way to get my kids to drink their veggies. :) Anyways... Here is the recipe that I created with what I had. Enjoy!

Squash Pumpkin Smoothie

3/4 cup squash, cooked and chilled
2 tablespoons cashews
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp of each spice (nutmeg, ginger, and clove)
1 tsp stevia
3/4 cup water
8 ice cubes

First, blend the squash, cashews, spices, stevia, and water for 40 seconds. Then add the ice and blend for 40 more seconds. It made about 2 cups.

Thinking Outside of the Smoothie Box!
by: DaNae

Thank you for sharing your smoothie recipe with us!

I am so glad that you were able to enjoy a "pumpkin" smoothie, even though it wasn't exactly made with pumpkin. After seeing your story, I had to go try this variation of a pumpkin smoothie.

It was extremely close to what a pumpkin smoothie tastes like. Pumpkin has a sweeter and fuller flavor. But they are quite similar.

Happy Blending!

How to make a smoothie bursting with flavor...

by Sharon P.

DaNae: Need to learn how to make a smoothie that doesn't taste diluted? Using to much water and ice can "water" down your smoothie. Discover how to avoid that with this tasty tip from Sharon.

Sharon: I started this little trick because I am very busy and too sleepy to not have a tight system to get my smoothie together in the morning ...

I buy a gal of unfiltered apple juice from the farmer here in New York City on Saturday, and I fill ice trays with the juice making apple juice ice cubes.

- The apple juice cubes serve as ice with out diluting the drink.

- They keep the sweet taste. When I add berries, they can sometimes not be very sweet.

- Most important, it saves time!

Pear Yogurt Smoothie Recipe

by Terri

Pear Yogurt Smoothie Recipe

1 cup plain yogurt
2 ripe pears, I removed the cores and chopped the pears up
1/2 tablespoon stevia powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup water
14 ice cubes

In order for the blender to easily blend all of the ingredients, I added the yogurt first with the rest of the ingredient on top with the ice being last. It took about 1 minute of full out blending. This recipe made just over 3 cups of yogurt smoothie.

My family really liked this smoothie recipe. I would have to say that it tasted like sweet yogurt with a hint of cinnamon. Not my ultimate favorite smoothie flavor, but it was very refreshing. I will probably try this one again some day.
