My favorite time to drink my green smoothies are in the morning for breakfast. Like many people say... it is good to "break the fast" with easy to digest foods. Green smoothies are at the top of my list for easy to digest foods.
Also, I like to drink mine in the morning... as in general it is a healthy way to start the day. When starting my day on a good foot, usually it seems easier for me to continue healthy habits throughout the day.
But if time doesn't allow for a breakfast smoothie, you can choose any time of day. I even drink a green smoothie for dinner, if I'm in a rush out the door.
Some people blend up 4 cups of green smoothie and drink 2 cups in the morning and chill the last 2 cups. Then they'll drink the remaining smoothie when they get home from work.
So, really... I personally think that morning is the best time to drink a green smoothie. But if that doesn't work with your schedule, I don't want that to stop you from drinking green smoothies at all. As a green smoothie will still give you terrific benefits at noon or 5pm.
