Where to Find Coconut Milk?
by Darcie Dewald

I have a random smoothie question.... Where can I find coconut milk? I have looked in the organic sections at grocery stores but I can not seem to find it! Maybe I'm not looking in the right section? Thirsty? Check out more delicious and healthy smoothie recipes!
I guess I do have another question.... How do I get myself motivated to lose weight? I am only 20 years old but in the past 2 years I have almost gained 30 pounds.... I'm not huge or anything but I can feel my self esteem going down the drain. I just want to feel in shape and be happy with my body.... How do I get there? I rather drink a pop or have a candy, but I'm not sure how to control it?
Great question! Coconut milk can be hard to find. Especially in smaller towns. I know that my local health food store just recently started carrying the coconut milk. Ask your store if they would be interested in stocking up with coconut milk. If the store knows that you would buy it, they will probably supply it.
There are many different ways to buy coconut milk.
Powdered - I like to buy this from a Minnesota business at: http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/product/coconut-products-coconut-milk/CMP1.php
Carton - Usually this will be sold either in the refrigerator by the dairy milk or on a self by the organic cereals.
Can - I generally find this in the Asian section of the store or in the section that carries the organic packaged foods. Always make sure that the coconut milk doesn't have added sugars. You can also buy canned coconut at iHerb.com.
Fresh - You can find fresh coconuts in the produce section of the store. Out of all of the options, this is the healthiest. But beware... I see that you are from North Dakota. Here in Minnesota, I find that there isn't enough of a demand for fresh coconuts. So the inventory at the store may be old. Check to make sure they aren't rotten.
Regarding losing weight... I would highly recommend you drinking a healthy smoothie in the morning to start your day off right. Green smoothies are the best.
Plan to have a smoothie before you usually crave a soda or candy bar. I like to make a dessert smoothie when I start craving sweets mid-morning. That generally satisfies my appetite until lunch time.
Then add some type of exercise routine into your life. Do something that you will love. Exercise is a great way to increase your endorphins (the happy hormones). This, in turn, will boost your self esteem.
Also, it is good to know "why" you are treating your body well at your young age. Here is an article that I wrote on healthy living tips and living on purpose with a passion.
I hope this helps!
