Beginning My Smoothie Journey

by Sreena

I bought the blender Catler. And I have been trying different mixes and recipes for about 2 weeks to find my favorites.

Up to now my favorites are: banana, apple, ginger and milk (I have this in the evening when I am in the mood for some sugar). I also like cucumber, orange, lots of water, and little bit of honey or maple syrup. Another one is banana, Swiss chard and water or milk (that's my most favorite one! No sugar is needed. And I adore chard's taste).

I bought a strong blender. Now I can blend carrot. It takes some time (30-40 seconds), with an orange and lots of water.

So I have been drinking these smoothies about 2-3 weeks. My skin has never been so smooth! :D It is so shiny. And the pimples are almost gone too!

I recommend smoothies to anyone. There are so many different mixes. I am sure anyone can find a perfect recipe for themselves. My boyfriend, who doesn't eat any fruits or veggies, likes a banana apple milk smoothie.

I can't wait for summer to begin. I will have unlimited amount of fruits and vegetables. :)

I just don't recommend adding any other stuff in it. Maybe I haven't found the right combination yet. Flax seeds are not so bad though. :) Coconut oil is not working.

But smoothies are superb!

masking flavors

use a lot of lemon zest and juice (even orange and lime, see which ones you like but lemons probably the best) to mask the flavor. you can add yogurt, and even if you are not a huge fan of it, it gives the smoothy good texture nd flavor. my favorite one was my strawberry banana smoothie. i made it in a complicated way but basically you can use 2 bananas, 1 3/4- 2 cups of strawberries. 1/3 cup vanilla light yogurt, zest of one lemon, juice of less then a quarter of that lemon, zest of a clementine and half the juice of one of those, freezing the fruit, or half would be best. i also a little f my flaxseed, wheat germ, oat mixture that i put cinnamon in to mask the flavor of that and chop it all up together so fine its like a powder so you cant really tell it is there, i chop up a lot at one time and store some of it.
