Freeze those bananas, and turn your smoothie into a frozen shake!

by Lexi Porter

I love green smoothies - been having them for breakfast daily for several years now. One thing that I noticed in a lot of green smoothie recipes is that, while they use bananas, they don't mention freezing them (yes, you peel them first). A frozen banana turns your watery smoothie into something closely approximately a thick and creamy milkshake.

Try it!

Oh, I just posted an article on Green Smoothies on my blog - it links to your posting, and also to a number of other ones with great recipes. Check it out: http://www.raw-food-guide.com/green-smoothies/

Lexi,

Thank you for your green smoothie tip. I absolutely love using frozen bananas in my smoothies. I actually just got done drinking a lettuce and blueberry smoothie with a frozen banana. Delicious!

I always look for the bargain, over-ripe bananas at the store and freeze them for future smoothies. Those who haven't done this before... just make sure to peel the bananas prior to freezing. Otherwise, you'll have a big mess.

Also, thank you for including my site with some other smoothie sites. I greatly appreciate it!

Happy Blending!
