How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie

I love smoothies! And after drinking a strawberry smoothie from Jamba Juice, I just had to figure out how to make a smoothie at home.

So I tried, I tried, and I tried again to perfect my smoothie recipe. I think that I've got the smoothie flavor that I like.

So, here are some tips that I've ran across along the way:

#1 - Use crushed ice. If you watch someone make a smoothie at a juice bar, they usually use shaved or crushed ice. So either you need a high powered blender or use ice that will blend easier with your blender.

Also, use as little ice as possible. We don't want that smoothie "watered" down.

#2 - If you need a sweetener, use honey, stevia, agave nectar, or even dried fruit like pineapple. I really like the combination of strawberry, pineapple, and banana. YUM!

#3 - Use fresh strawberries. Fresh organic strawberries have the best flavor. But organic berries can be expensive.

If you pick organic or not, fresh strawberries are definitely sweeter in flavor than frozen.

#4 - Add a splash of vanilla extract. Vanilla twists well with the banana and the strawberry flavor.

Now go and do some experimenting yourself! Then some back here and tell us what you learned about how to make a strawberry smoothie.
