Ever wanted to drink a rich berry-colored smoothie and still reap the benefits of a green smoothie? Many times green smoothies are a brownish purple or a bright green. To be honest... Some recipes are not the most appetizing thing to see. So finding a recipe that visually hides the greens is a real gem.
Well... Margaret has shared with us a smoothie that just might fit the bill. With all of the high antioxidants and anthocyanins, the fruits (especially pomegranate juice) in this smoothie will color over the cabbage.
Want the smoothie to be even darker yet? Try using the red/purple cabbage.
Disguising the greens in the smoothie is a great way to get kids used to drinking their greens. They first have to be "okay" with the looks of a smoothie for them to even try something new.
It sounds like Margaret has a Vitamix blender. That blender would pulverize the flax seeds with no issues. If you don't have this type of blender, you can still make this smoothie. Grind the seeds to a fine powder prior to adding the rest of the ingredients. You can try grinding the almonds, as well, if you don't think your blender would handle them.
Thank you Margaret for sharing your recipe with us!
