Smoothies for Diabetics

by Alicia Samuel
(Miami, FL)

What are good smoothies for diabetics?

---

Alicia,

Great question! There are many people curious to know about smoothies that won't spike sugar levels. There are many different tasty smoothies for diabetics.

Here are three ways to make diabetic smoothies:

1. Use whole fruit as much as possible. If you need liquid for your smoothie, use water, milk, or milk alternative. Avoid using fruit juice.

2. Add extra fiber to slow down the absorption of sugar. Psyllium fiber is a great option. Using raw seeds will do the trick as well. Also, greens in a green smoothie not only contains a lot of fiber but also great nutrition.

3. Add protein to the smoothie. As some diabetics see benefit from drinking protein in their smoothies. I like to use hemp protein powder or egg white protein powder.

I hope that I answered your question.

Happy Blending!
