What can I use to substitute for bananas in smoothie recipes?

Question: What is an adequate substitute for bananas? I've been reading the smoothie recipes and some of them sound soooo good, until I get to the bananas. Bananas make me extremely sleepy, the most I can eat is half of a small one.

And thank you for publishing these recipes freely! You are a lifesaver for people like me who have no money, LOL!

Answer: I understand that bananas just don't settle well with everyone. A couple of great substitutes for bananas are mangos, avocados, papayas, cashews, and pears.

Those are just to name a few... For more information on how to use those ingredients, check out my smoothie base page.

You're welcome for the recipes. My family has enjoyed all of the experimenting done to make this site. :) I hope that I can continue to provide useful content for you.

Happy Blending!
