These banana smoothies are quite tasty! For a long time my favorite has been the Banana Nut Smoothie. It is very creamy and full of flavor.
Freezing your bananas give smoothies a fluffy consistency. To freeze your bananas for your smoothies, choose bananas that have brown spots. These are sweeter than the green or bright yellow ones. Then peel the bananas and freeze in a ziploc bag. You can break the bananas in quarters or thirds for easier blending. Leave them in the freezer for at least 24 hours before creating your own banana smoothies.
If you do not peel your bananas before freezing, you will have frozen fingers trying to peel the bananas later. I have done this once and have never done it again. :)
I usually buy a box of "overripe" bananas at the store for half the price of regular bananas. And freeze them in gallon bags. If you can't find overripe bananas for sale on the self, ask the produce manager if they have any in back. Since the grocery store down the street from my house sells their leftover fruit to the local zoo, I have to ask for my bananas every time.
This will save you a lot of money and they are extremely convenient for banana smoothies.
By freezing your bananas you will also avoid those nasty fruit flies hovering around your precious produce.
While working at a smoothie bar, I realized that people either really like bananas or totally dislike them. Before you decide one way or the other, try these yummy banana smoothie recipes.
